    • rectal bleeding;
    • coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
    • bloody or tarry stools; or
    • no bowel movement after using magnesium oxide as a laxative.

    Common side effects of magnesium oxide may include:

    • diarrhea; or
    • upset stomach.
